Winner

I always pick Brazil. They're like Tiger Woods. If Tiger is in a tournament, I'll take him against the field. Same with Brazil. I'll take Brazil against the field.

Donovan McNabb: Class Act.

Philadelphia Eagles fans, Rush Limbaugh, Terrell Owens - and now, DeSean Jackson. What do all of these people have in common? Besides being some of the most obnoxious people that the world of sports, the world in general, has ever seen (Eagles fans booed Santa Claus . . . I mean, come on) they have also all come out and publicly criticized Donovan McNabb over the years. And I don’t mean criticized like “he smells bad and he can’t read good, “ I’m talking really hurtful and disrespectful stuff. Eagles fans booed McNabb on draft day. Welcome to Philly, franchise quarterback!

Entitlement

“I knew my actions were wrong, but I convinced myself that normal rules didn't apply. I never thought about who I was hurting. Instead, I thought only about myself . . . I thought I could get away with whatever I wanted to. I felt that I had worked hard my entire life and deserved to enjoy all the temptations around me. I felt I was Entitled . . ."

Saints vs. Colts in Super Bowl 44.

What's the difference between the skills players on offense for the Saints and the Colts?

Peyton Manning – Number 1 overall pick in the draft.
Drew Brees – First pick of the second round.

Reggie Wayne – 30th overall pick in the draft.
Marques Colston – 252nd pick (4th from last).

Joseph Addai – 30th overall pick in the draft.
Pierre Thomas – Undrafted.

That's about it.

Why We Love Our Teams.

A friend of mine recently asked me how I became a Yankees fan. Good question. My Dad took me to both Yankees and Mets games when I was growing up. It was the Mets who were making noise in the late 1980’s, when I started to get the sports fan bug. I remember sitting behind the third base dugout in Shea, no more than 7 years old. I remember some Mets players coming to a baseball camp I attended and signing a ball for me. Kinda cool. But the event that cemented my Yankees fanhood came a couple of years after that. I was sitting in the right field stands of Yankee Stadium, upper deck.

WHO DAT! Not the NFL.

The NFL recently tried to claim ownership of WHO DAT!. A phrase hat has been a part of the Saints franchise since they were the Aints. A phrase that the city takes pride in. A phrase that has defined that franchise for decades. The NFL tried to take that away from its rightful owners, the people of New Orleans. All things considered, I can’t think of anything in sports that could be worse.

Terrell Owens never seems to amaze me. Really? If you had better quarterbacks you'd have been as good as Jerry Rice? The same Jerry Rice who is the best receiver, maybe the best football player the NFL has ever seen? Rice never dropped a ball, you have dropped many. Young, McNabb, Romo? These guys put up serious numbers, and you benefited from having them throw you the ball. Jeff Garcia isn't the greatest, but he was a very good quarterback. Number of catches Owens had with Garcia behind center in the 2000, 2001, and 2002 seasons? 97,93,100. Easily his best years in the league.

Why?

Sometimes I wonder why I even bother. Just got back from Florida. While I was there I played golf twice. The first time I went out, I just wanted to hide. Bury myself in a bunker. When I first started playing, about four years ago, I would get frustrated. I wanted to be good. And I didn't understand how hitting a ball that wasn't moving could be so hard. I've calmed down. Now I'm out there to be out there. I still want to be good, of course. But it takes time. It takes practice. It takes patience.
