Penn State Football Fantasy Camp

'Living the Dream' at Penn State Football Fantasy Camp

The group of 28 honorary Penn Staters from ten states made their way to the stadium this morning as they brushed off their cleats and suited up in the coveted Penn State Football locker room each person having a locker with their name on it.

The excitement level growing by the second as the group of men aged 37 to 67 are ‘Living the Dream’ – playing football at Penn State University.

Since the average is 48 years-old, before starting in any position drills the group did some on-field stretching and calisthenics to loosen up the ‘ole muscles.

The morning practice was defense oriented as PSU coaches Bill Kenney, Larry Johnson, and Kermit Buggs led the practice.

In the afternoon, the group went to the Lasch Football Building for a food and a Penn State Football presentation. And then it was back to the stadium and practice fields for the second practice of the day!

‘Freshman’ Mark Rotella describes his experience so far:

“It has been fantastic. The coaches are great, the guys are great – it has been very enjoyable.

It is a thrill to walk into the locker room and see your name on the locker and then we got to walk onto the field this morning it was quite the thrill. I graduated from Penn State in 1982 and have been a huge fan ever since. And now I have two kids that come here. I always come to a couple games a year, so being at this camp really means something to me. I live and breath Penn State Football!

The practices have been great. I’m going to be 50 this year, so there are definitely some things that are going to be sore but it is worth it!”
