With the dwindling days of summer upon us, there’s nothing better than watching live pro boxing at an outdoor venue. Last Friday night, SoCal boxing fans were treated to plenty of entertaining matches at Thompson Boxing Promotions’ “Path to Glory” series with headliner Mauricio Herrera taking on Hector Alatorre. Check out these candid shots from last weekend’s show where sluggers Alfredo Angulo, Kassim Ouma, Kaliesha West, Bobby Chacon, Rodolfo Gonzalez, Paula Cortez, trainer Jack Mosley and other familiar faces took in all the action at ringside.

Derric Rossy Speaks His Mind on the Heavyweight Division

Everyone says the current Heavyweight division is weak. I don’t believe that is the case. The fact is that the top 10 Heavyweights don’t fight each other until it is mandatory. The best fighters should always fight each other and should bring boxing back to its heyday. If the competition is at its greatest, the fights will be more exciting for the fans and will establish who really is the best.

Gary Hyde signs British amateur Mark Heffron

Noted worldwide boxing manager Gary Hyde today announced the signing of British amateur standout Mark Heffron to an exclusive contract. Hyde also manages 2-time Olympic gold medalist Guillermo Rigondeaux and European super middleweight champion Lolenga Mock.

“I’m excited to sign Mark Heffron,” the Cork, Ireland-based Hyde said. “Freddie Roach told me this kid’s a huge talent and he advised me to sign him. Our plan is to keep him busy, starting with his pro debut September 5th in Wolverhampton, England and then, hopefully, five more fights before this year is out.”

The Denver Police Brotherhood Boxing Board, voted to give $500 schloarships to their four boxer college students for the upcoming school semester at their various colleges that the youths attend. Nicole Pasillas attends UNC, Gilardo Garcia attends Metro, Roman Sanchez Jr. attends Community College of Denver, and Jesus Vasquez Jr. attends Arapahoe Community. These four not only done well in the boxing ring, but have showed outstanding community leadership by futhering their education as well.

"The Nightmare" gets the win in Ontario

Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola scored a victory over his tough foe Manuel “El Toro” Quezada in ESPN2′s “Friday Night Fights” card held last Friday at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California. Promoted by Goossen Tutor Promotions, the SoCal fans came out to cheer on their Riverside favorites fighting in their own backyard.

I gotta say it was a terrible day in L.A. yesterday.
With over 90 degree temps in the city, the sweaty tourists that packed the narrow rows of crammed vendors in the historic Olvera Street plaza had a terrible time staying cool right in the midst of hot and humid downtown Los Angeles. Most were having a terrible time trying to make their way through the throngs of people that clogged the venerable landmark.

At last the second Edition of night of champions, starting with a dinning service at the city hall in a very happy day for the city with live music of Cardiff free for all the family. Wales, before just a couple of hours of the event.with the meeting of champions like Mikkel Kessler, Vitali Klitschko, Joe Calzaghe, &ld quo;BoneCrusher”, etc.

All the champions receiv ed a commemorative medal and a plaque to commemorate the event.

Some of the 2009 awards were given , also there was a bid of great memorabilia of box and music.for charity causes.
