Phewww! That was a close one. The Cats almost went by the way-side like Notre Dame in the first slate of games on Thursdays. The Nova Nation took a sigh of relief when they realized that they avoided being only the fifth team to lose as the number 2 seed in the first round. However Nova Nation also holds their breath as to what the rest of the tournament holds. There are two possibilities. Either one, the Cats let this steal their confidence and they show the same effort against St. Mary's/Richmond OR they can use this to propel them forward to another great run in the tournament.

TOURNEY TIME!

The Cats come limping into this tournament. Losers of 6 out of their last 10, including a heart breaker to Marquette in the Big East Tournament Villanova comes into this game with a little bit of confidence.

The Wildcats get the luckiest draw they could have possibly received. They benefited from the new selection board policy of rating the resume equally, as opposed to looking at the final ten games of the season. Because of this the Cats received a number 2 seed, in arguably the easiest bracket with the easiest number one seed in Duke.

What Happened?

What's been going on with the Wildcats lately? Once sitting pretty atop the very tough Big East, they have lost 3 of their last 4 games.While they are still in second place and looking good for a possible double bye in the Big East tournament, they have lost the possibility for a #1 seed in the big dance, most likely looking at a repeat of last year's #3 seed (depending of course on how they do in the BE tournament). While all these are very good positions to be in, the fact is that they are losing games entering the end of the year, and that is a scary thing.
