FLW AOY: Finished 8th

The FLW Tour regular season concluded this past Saturday on Lake Guntersville, AL and boy was it hot. The heat and humidity was almost unbearable for a northern boy like me, but I made it through. I finished 40th in the event, which isn’t bad, but I had the fish on my line to make the top 10 the last day and it just didn’t go very smoothly like on days 1 and 2. The good thing though is I’m qualified to fish the Forrest Wood Cup next month in Atlanta, GA. I finished the season ranked 8th in the AOY points.

9th place with one left

I finished 30th at our last FLW Tour event on Lake Ouachita, AR. I've been hovering around that 30 mark all season so far, which is good, but I'm ready for a top 10 soon I promise. I'm sitting in 9th in the Angler of the Year standings with only one tournament left on Lake Guntersville, AL. I really don't have a legitimate shot at getting the AOY unless the two leaders totally blow it and I get in the Top 5, but anything's possible I guess. The good news is that I've already made the Forrest Wood Cup (our championship) and my AOY standing doesn't really matter.

Two To Go!

Hi everyone! This last event at Fort Loudoun and Tellico Lakes, TN was a definite nail-biter. I thought that I would weigh all smallmouth throughout the tournament but I actually had all largemouth for three days. My practice wasn't great until the last day when I found a way to get some big smallmouth bites and then as an added bonus, I found a group of giant smallmouth on the beds. Well, someone beat me to the bedding fish, caught them all, and consequently weighed over 20 pounds on day 1, but I still managed to get the bites to have over 20 pounds just fishing.

Heading Home From Norman

On the way home from stop #3 on the FLW Tour on Lake Norman, NC. I managed to make it to my friend Jimmy’s house tonight, which is about 2 ½ hours south of my house. I actually feel like I could make it home, but everyone will be in bed anyway, might as well wait. Anne’s Birthday is tomorrow so it’s going to be a good day. I miss everyone so much, it reminds me to be thankful that they can travel with me most of the time. Many guys on the tour don’t have that luxury and I don’t take it for granted, it’s such a blessing.

Fun At Table Rock

We are on our way home from Table Rock Lake, Branson, MO and it was a great trip! We couldn’t take the camper this trip because of the weather so we stayed at a cabin on the lake called the Lighthouse Lodge with our good friends Janice and Alton Lackie. They are our grandparents on the road! Alton fishes the tournaments as a co-angler so he and Dave pre-fish together. I want to thank Rodger, owner and operator of the Lodge where we stayed for all of his hospitality! Also, the neighbor lady for all of her delicious cookies! She must have had that oven going full blast!

Table Rock is History

Tournament number one is in the books finally. We are in the truck heading home from Table Rock Lake, MO where I finished 12th. I guess I should be happy with that, but I really thought I was going to have at least one of those twenty pound days. I had one of them in practice and felt like I was going to get my share of 4 pounders, but for some reason I couldn’t connect with any of them during the 3 days of the event. On the last day Tom Mann Jr sat on the spot I caught most of my bigger fish and I never got to fish it.
