Sad News

Dear friends:

It is with a broken heart and with regret that I inform you that our dearest Roy Van Putten passed away last night in Aruba.

There is no one single person in the world that will not remember Roy's always exemplary behavior, professionalism and his sweet and warm smile.

We will be communicating details about the services and in the meantime I would like to express my deepest condolences to his wife Edith and Renato, who have joined the WBC family without missing one single convention since 1985.

My Thoughts

The news released last week confirmed what I had previously said In this column, regarding the fact that the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. would not be held in March as it was being announced; in my experience, it was not possible that a fight of such magnitude could be promoted in just 60 days, as Pacquiao wished, as he will be running for office looking to get a position in the Chamber of Deputies of the Philippines and will precisely end his campaign in May.
