Seton Hall Basketball Offseason begins as Gonzalez is let go.

Seton Hall University announced last week that Bobby Gonzalez would not return as Head Coach of the Pirates basketball program.

SHU has a list of candidates that they are targeting but one name you can take off the list is Siena's Fran McCaffery who chose the Iowa job this morning.

The candidates include:

Mike Rice who is the head coach of Robert Morris has a career record of 47-23 at RMU which includes two NCAA Tournament appearances.

Seton Hall hosts Texas Tech tonight in NIT

The Seton Hall Pirates will host the Texas Tech Red Raiders tonight at the Prudential Center in downtown Newark, N.J. at 9:00 p.m. in the first round of the NIT.

The Pirates (19-12) are coming off a disappointing loss vs. the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the second round of the Big East tournament while Texas Tech (17-15) fell to eventual Big 12 champions Kansas 80-68.

The Pirates will be without Senior Forward Robert Mitchell who was removed from the team on Sunday.

The winner will face the winner of the Arizona State-Jacksonville match-up.

NCAA or NIT? Seton Hall will find out tonight.

Seton Hall will find out tonight which tournament they will be heaing to. After having a chance to improve their résumé against Notre Dame in the second round of the Big East tournament, Seton Hall came out flat.

"I thought this was the most tired I've seen our team the entire year. We just didn't' have our legs," said Pirates coach Bobby Gonzalez.

Seton Hall defeats Providence. Notre Dame next tonight.

The Seton Hall Pirates defeated the Providence Friars 109-106 last night in the first round of the Big East tournament at the World's Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden.

Herb Pope led the way for the Pirates with 27 points and 11 rebounds before fouling out. Jordan Theodore finished with 21 points and 6 assists. The sophomore point guard has upped his play recently. He is orchestrating the offense and constantly harassing opposing point guards on the defensive end.

Seton Hall defeats Providence. Big East Tournament Tonight.

The Seton Hall Pirates defeated Providence 92-80 on Saturday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Rhode Island to close out the Big East regular season.

Jordan Theodore played his best game of the season finishing with 21 points and 8 assists while Jeremy Hazell finished with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Herb Pope had another double-double by scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

The Big East Championship Tournament will be begin today at noon at the World's Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden. 10th seed Seton Hall will face 15th seed Providence again tonight at 7 p.m.

Seton Hall sweeps Rutgers. Providence next.

The Seton Hall Pirates defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 85-74 to sweep the season series on Thursday night at the Louis Brown Athletic Center.

Herb Pope had a monster game finishing with 22 points and 18 rebounds to earn his 11th double-double of the season. Jeff Robinson added 16 points and career high 14 rebounds while Jeremy Hazell added 19 points.

Emotions were high during the garden state battle as it was Rutgers center Hamady Ndiaye's last home game wearing red and white in front of the 6517 in attendance.

State rivals clash again as Seton Hall travels to Rutgers

State rivals Seton Hall and Rutgers will face off tonight at the Louis Brown Athletic Center in Piscataway, N.J. The two teams met 9 days ago as the Pirates defeated the Scarlet Knights 76-70.

Seton Hall (16-11, 7-9) is coming off a heartbreaking loss against Marquette on Sunday while Rutgers (15-14, 5-11) defeated DePaul.
